What is your definition of Friend Goals? If you are having a hard time coming up with one, then Tank and the Bangas have you covered with their new project. It follows the Grammy-nominated quartet’s 2019 album Green Balloon.
Exploring multiple genres, including bounce, bold R&B, and hip-hop, the six-track collection finds the New Orleans collective running through topics such as social media obsession (“Mr. Insta”), fixation of spotlight and pop culture (“Fluff”), and social isolation (“Self Care”). Tank and the Bangas also touch on the airplane blues of many when it comes to the strict rules of “TSA.”
“There are hair goals, body goals, but Tank and The Bangas are actual friend goals! This special EP is full of some of our favorite artists from New Orleans and around the globe,” said frontwoman Tarriona ‘Tank’ Ball in a statement. “The fun, creative, energy is put into every track and each one is sure to have you dancing your quarantine blues away. We made this one just for you.”
Friend Goals wouldn’t be appropriately titled if it didn’t include some music friends. The EP features appearances from PJ Morton, Duckwrth, CHIKA, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Keedy Black, Pell and more.
A music video for the EP cut “To Be Real” arrived. Watch it below.
Tank and the Bangas will celebrate the release of their new EP with a virtual concert. It all goes down live from the Le Petit Theatre in New Orleans on November 25 at 8 p.m. ET. Get information on tickets here.
