Giveon has received his first taste of gold from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). “Like I Want You,” the standout from his Grammy-nominated EP Take Time, has been certified gold, with 500,000 units sold.

The 2020 breakthrough act shared the bright news on his Instagram, writing, “This is such a special song and moment for me. I’d like to thank everyone who ever listened to this song. You don’t understand how much that means to me.”

“Like I Want You” is nearing 42 million streams on Spotify, while the soulful record is rising up the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart. It rests at No. 13 for another week.

Most recently, Giveon’s Take Time EP won acclaim from Rated R&B, appearing on our 30 best R&B albums of 2020 list.

Earlier this month, Giveon released an exclusive Apple Music rendition of “O Christmas Tree.”
