Ne-Yo released his double-platinum debut album In My Own Words on Feb. 28, 2006. To celebrate the 15th anniversary, the influential album is getting an expanded digital edition. It arrives on Feb. 26 via UMe/Def Jam.
The deluxe version of his first album will include all 13 songs from the original, along with two rare tracks that were once exclusive to retail (“Girlfriend”) and included on the previous Japanese edition [“Stay (Remix)”].
The album will also include instrumentals for two songs (“So Sick” and “When You’re Mad”), plus acoustic versions of the former track and “Sexy Love.”
The 15th-anniversary reissue will be bundled with a documentary focused on Ne-Yo’s life following his debut record release. It takes a look inside his creative mind as one of the best songwriters and producers of his time. It also will highlight his relationship with his wife and performing at George Floyd’s funeral last summer.
Ne-Yo shared a live acoustic performance of “Sexy Love” from The Compound in Atlanta along with the reissue announcement. Watch it below. The Grammy winner plans to release a similar performance of “So Sick” soon.
Last year, Ne-Yo earned his second number-one single on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart with “U 2 Luv.”
