Schoolyard romance is still a thing. QUIÑ reignites those nostalgic butterflies on her new track, “Crush.”
Besides identifying with the sweet lyrics about a fixation for a likely transitory lover, the warmth and urgency in the ethereal singer’s voice is destined to soothe the open-ended musing of listeners. It doesn’t hurt, too, that the pillowy backdrop, made up of a gorgeous harp and plush horns, is top-tier.
“‘Crush’ was inspired by my first kiss ever,” QUIÑ revealed to Rated R&B via email. “I wanted crush to feel like a perfect rollercoaster ride where it takes you somewhere enchanting, drops you into the butterflies, picks you back up again, and lands you safe on a dreamy cloud.”
For fans hoping to listen to “Crush” on streaming platforms, it won’t be possible at the moment. It’s only available on YouTube and SoundCloud. The reason is simple: QUIÑ revealed on social media that she is experiencing a lack of support from her label Interscope Records, who backed her 2019 EP LUCID.
“This is an independent release under my own label Fantasy Soul as I’m not receiving any support from my major label [right now] to do this,” QUIÑ wrote. She went on to show an abundance of love and appreciation to her fans for hanging in there until she released new material.
Last year, QUIÑ shared the new song “Angel Love (Acoustic)” on her Soundcloud. The previous year, she supported her LUCID EP with a visual for “Mushroom Chocolate,” featuring 6LACK. The project also included the songs “Calling” and “7th Heaven.”
