It’s finally here. Grammy-winning and Oscar-winning singer/songwriter H.E.R. has released her debut album, Back of My Mind, via MBK Entertainment/RCA Records.
The 21-track album, which has been in the works for the past three years, includes guest appearances from Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $ign, Thundercat, Lil Baby, and many more. It includes production by Rodney Jerkins, Cardiak, DJ Camper, Hit-Boy, KAYTRANADA and more.
Speaking on the album’s title, H.E.R. explained, “It’s always things that I’ve been through, things that I go through or that I feel and all those thoughts that I think I’m afraid to say sometimes — or that we’re afraid to say — things that feel too honest or too vulnerable, or too emotional or too aggressive. It’s all of those things that have been in the back of my mind for the past few years, since my first project. It’s like a peek into my soul.”
Back of My Mind was preceded by singles “Hold On,” “Slide” featuring YG, “Damage” and “Come Through” featuring Chris Brown. The platinum-selling “Damage” reached No. 1 on R&B Radio this week, securing H.E.R. her seventh single — solo or featured — to top this radio airplay format.
