Marc E. Bassy previews more of his untitled forthcoming album with “Tell Me Lies,” his fourth new solo track of the year.
On this sultry groove, imbued in co-ed harmonies, Bassy gets a mean dose of his own unflattering, two-timing behavior. He coos sensually about staying out the loop of his girl’s unfaithfulness, contemplating if the truth is better left unsaid.
“All the nights that you spent alone / Now I wonder what you really on / Out here playin’ me, things that they say to me / Goin’ crazy, girl, you must be mistaken me / Karma killin’ me, that bitch is cold / How this ends, girl, I’ll ever know,” he sings.
Since June, Bassy has been dishing out new tracks, starting with the dual songs “Zone” and “Atmosphere.” He quickly followed up with “Trouble,” which arrived with a cinematic video directed by Bobby Hanaford.
Bassy’s future album follows 2019’s PMD, which was later reissued as a deluxe version the following year.
