Cautious Clay reached a landmark with his debut single “Cold War.” Certified gold, with more than 500,000 equivalent units sold, the self-produced tune marks the first to Clay’s credit.
Considered a huge single in Clay’s brief catalog, “Cold War” arrived on his Soundcloud in 2017 once he left the corporate sector to pursue music.
Since its upload, the song has been a gateway for Clay to make his mark in the industry, appearing in season three of Insecure and his sophomore EP Blood Type, a Rated R&B darling on its 2018 Best R&B Albums list.
Growing in popularity, “Cold War” has over 97.9 million streams on Spotify. It is also his most popular song on that streaming service, as well as Apple Music.
As for the video itself, it premiered exclusively through Pitchfork in April 2018, surpassing 1.6 million views.
Currently, Clay is set to play shows on an enormous Karma & Friends World Tour that supports his debut album, Deadpan Love.
The LP, which came out last summer, is getting upgraded to deluxe status on Feb. 11. Earlier this month, he shared a new song titled “Rapture in Love.”
