Nigerian-American singer Ogi has shared another single produced by Grammy winner No I.D. “Envy,” which follows her debut single “I Got It,” finds the emerging talent not getting panties in a wad for those who can’t take her gaining a foothold in her bubbling career.
“Tried to act like we were constant buddies / Now I know that your reasons were ugly / Just dodged the attack and you really should be so ashamed / I caught you in the in act and now you won’t forget I am the boss,” she warmly sings in a conversational tone that could be defined as unbothered.
Ogi has said that nonchalant nature of Nicki Minaj’s mixtape classic “Itty Bitty Piggy” inspired her new track.
“I think of ‘Envy’ to be like a personal love letter to haters in my life. “I’m basically telling them that it’s not my fault that you want what I have, don’t be mad at me. I can be a little petty at times and this song gives a little glimpse of that side of me.”
To coincide with the digital drop of “Envy,” Ogi paired it with a live performance filmed at Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle, Washington.
“Envy” couldn’t have come at a better time. Ogi is currently serving as an opening act on Snoh Aalegra’s recently started Ugh, These Temporary Highs Tour.
