The Leimert Park Juneteenth Festival returns this Saturday, June 18, to Leimert Park Village in Los Angeles, California.
The free event, held from noon PT to 9 p.m. PT, will feature art, food, educational activities and music. There will be live performances from Alexy Isley, Kenyon Dixon, Cocoa Sarai and more.
Amazon Music’s R&B/hip-hop brand, Rotation, has partnered with the festival’s organizers, Still Rising Corporation, to curate talent on the festival’s main stage, “Live on Leimert.”
The lineup includes Masego, Buddy and Smino. Amazon Music’s latest activation is part of its “Credit The Culture” campaign, which celebrates Black Music Month.
“Leimert Park has been the centerpiece of Black Culture in Los Angeles for many decades. We are honored to be a part of this year’s Juneteenth festival highlighting the various creatives and Black-owned businesses that keep this community thriving,” said Tim Hinshaw, Amazon Music’s head of Hip-Hop and R&B.
“I’m proud to support this year’s festival,” added Herb Wesson, Councilman for City District 10 and the 2nd African American to ever serve as Speaker of the California State Assembly. “Juneteenth is not only a day of celebration for freedom and emancipation but a day of pride for so many communities. It’s time to reflect and re-dedicate ourselves to action.”
