Emerging singer Dominic Scott agonizes over a wasted relationship in his new song “Bite My Tongue,” produced by Thomas Crager.
The woozy, sinuous jam finds Scott fed up with an unappreciative lover who got his hopes up about a future together that involved kids. Like famed wrestler Goldust, she’s shattered his dreams for the last time. He’s taken the hint and is no longer fighting for a thrill that’s now gone.
Scott tells Rated R&B “Bite My Tongue” is “the most vulnerable song” he has released up to this point. He adds, “After dealing with my first heartbreak I needed a way to express myself and it took a lot for me to share it with everyone. I’m happy I did because a lot of people were able to relate to it.”
Scott accompanied “Bite My Tongue” with a music video, directed by Ricardo Betancourt. At the onset of the video, it notes that fans are “witnessing a breakup.”
“Bite My Tongue” marks Scott’s first song of 2022. He last released the song “Treat U (Secrets)” in October 2021. Around the same time, he worked with Sevyn Streeter on the song “Fall Back,” taken from her 2021 album Drunken Wordz Sober Thoughtz.
Since then, he’s worn his director hat, getting behind the camera for music videos for Grammy winner PJ Morton. He directed Morton’s visual for “Still Believe,” featuring Jill Scott and Alex Isley. He also co-directed Morton’s video for “Please Don’t Walk Away” starring Dawn Richard.
