Berhana has unveiled dates for his upcoming Nomad’s Tour.
The North American leg will begin April 11, 2024, at Terminal West in Atlanta. From there, the Ethiopian-American singer and songwriter will perform in major cities such as New York, Toronto, Minneapolis and San Francisco.
The tour will conclude April 27 at The Roxy Theater in West Hollywood, California.
Ahead of his headlining tour, Berhana will perform his album at Songbyrd Music House in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 13, according to his Instagram comments section. Tickets for this one-off concert are now available.
The tour announcement comes on the heels of Berhana’s sophomore album, Amén: የዘላን ህልም (The Nomad’s Dream), released Oct. 20 via EQT Recordings.
Amen: The Nomad’s Dream is the follow-up to Berhana’s 2019 debut album, Han. It includes previously shared songs such as “Like a Habit” and “Gone (Abebe Bikila).”
Each of the two pre-album singles mentioned was rolled out with a supporting video. Julia Baylis and Sam Guest directed the videos for “Like a Habit” and “Gone (Abebe Bikila).”
Berhana paid homage to Abebe Bikila, an Ethiopian marathon runner, in both the title and lyrics of the latter track.
In a social media post, Berhana wrote, “Abebe Bikila was an Ethiopian marathon runner that made his claim to fame as a last second stand-in for the 1960 Rome Olympics. Upon arriving, he realized the shoes he had been given didn’t fit. He decided to run barefoot — and won. In doing so, he became the first African to take home Gold in the Olympics and he did it in the same country that tried (and failed) to colonize his homeland some 70 years prior. Legend.”
Berhana told Rated R&B what he hopes fans took away from Amen: The Nomad’s Dream. “Maybe to trust themselves more, take pride in what makes them unique, and to listen to their dreams,” Berhana shared.
