Ciara has teamed up with rap legend Lil Wayne for an official remix of her Chris Brown-assisted single “How We Roll.”
Weezy kicks it off in the first verse, where he drops firey bars about a steamy connection with a woman.
“She give me fire head, it keep my soul warm / And if she pop it like CiCi, I’m for sure tippin’ / P***y like a pot of gold, got me gold diggin’ / She scream “goals” when we f**k, stop goal tendin’,” he raps.
Wayne’s contribution to the “How We Roll (Remix)” isn’t just a hot verse. He also plays a live guitar on the track.
Ciara’s “How We Roll (Remix)” comes nearly two months after her viral interview with The Shade Room. During the conversation, Ciara was asked about a dream collaboration and she named Lil Wayne.
Speaking on her new collaboration, Ciara says, “I recently said in an interview that it was my dream to work with Lil Wayne and in a few short months we made it happen! This is the reason I believe in manifestation…the GOAT being on ‘How We Roll’ is definitely a career highlight.”
The original version of “How We Roll” was released as the lead single from Ciara’s EP, CiCi, which dropped in August.
The smooth banger was co-produced by Ciara, Precision Productions, Mr Kamera, Deli Banger and Theron Thomas.
“How We Roll” marked CiCi and Breezy’s first collaboration since 2009’s “Turntables” from Ciara’s third album, Fantasy Ride.
“It was so much fun working with Breezy because we have been wanting to work together for some time. We are so proud of what we made together and most importantly the growth we have had as artists,” Ciara exclusively told Rated R&B.
“Even down to sharing laughs over us both having kids now, which was even funnier because I was pregnant on the video set. It’s been so sweet to see all the love the fans have been showing the song and video.”
“How We Roll” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales and iTunes’ R&B/Soul Songs charts. The dance-packed video has garnered more than 23 million views on YouTube.
“How We Roll” is up for Best Dance Performance at the 2023 Soul Train Awards. Ciara is also nominated for “Better Thangs” in the same category and the Certified Soul Award.
Circling back to CiCi, the seven-track EP also includes features from Lil Baby (“Forever”) and Big Freedia (“Winning”). The EP is Ciara’s second project released under her independent label Beauty Marks Entertainment.
“I wanted to curate and set the tone of my next music chapter with this EP. This project is the start of really exciting things to come, but most importantly, I want my fans to know that the Ci Ci they have always loved is in her R&B bag,” Ciara told Rated R&B.
CiCi is the follow-up to Ciara’s 2019 album, Beauty Marks. The album includes her 2x-platinum hit single “Level Up.”
As for Brown, he also racked up additional nominations at the 2023 Soul Train Awards. “Summer Too Hot” and “Under The Influence” are up for Best Dance Performance. He’s also among the Best R&B/Soul Male Artist nominees. The ceremony will air Sunday, Nov. 26, at 8 p.m. ET on BET and BET Her.
Before that, he will release his 11th album, 11:11 on Nov. 11 via RCA Records. It will include the singles “Summer Too Hot” and “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay.
Meanwhile, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz are gearing up to release WELCOME 2 COLLEGROVE, the sequel to their ColleGrove album, on Nov. 17 via Def Jam Recordings.
It will include the lead single “Presha,” released on Oct. 20. The hard-hitting track, produced by Bangladesh, has amassed three million streams on Spotify to date.
