Muni Long is eyeing her next hit. Her latest single, “Made For Me,” debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week at No. 93.
It’s Long’s third entry on the popular singles chart. Here’s a quick breakdown of Long’s Hot 100 entries:
- “Hrs & Hrs,” No. 16 peak (2022)
- “Angel,” Pt. 1, Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, Jimin, JVKE & Muni Long, No. 65 peak (2023)
- “Made For Me,” No. 93 peak so far (2024)
Elsewhere on Billboard, the heartfelt ballad has opened at No. 2 on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, currently led by Tyla’s “Water.” Long’s breakout single “Hrs & Hrs” commanded the No. 1 spot in 2022 for five weeks.
On Hot R&B Songs, “Made For Me” advances from No. 15 to No. 8 in its eighth week.
While Mary J. Blige’s “Still Believe in Love” leads the Adult R&B Airplay chart for a fifth consecutive week, “Made for Me” dips from No. 2 peak to No. 3, as Usher’s “Good Good” moves up a notch.
“Made For Me” is also making strides outside of Billboard. On Monday (Jan. 22), the song reached No. 1 on Apple Music’s Top 100 R&B/Soul Songs chart. It remains at the pole position at the time of publication, as well as No. 1 on the iTunes R&B/Soul Songs chart.
Furthermore, “Made For Me” is No. 3 on Apple Music’s Top 100 USA Songs and No. 19 on the Top 100 Global Songs charts.
In late December, “Made For Me” topped R&B radio, securing Long her first No. 1 hit on this airplay format. (“Hrs & Hrs” reached No. 1 at urban radio.)
Last week, Long released an official video for the song, co-starring fellow R&B singer Luke James.”
Trinidad James and Des Gray directed the sci-fi-inspired visual.
“I wanted to have fun with this video and really think outside of the box. It’s my little nod to A.I. mixed with Frankenstein,” Long explained. “If you want to find the perfect person in a limited dating pool, you might just have to create them! It’s only science fiction for now, but with how fast technology is changing, could this be our reality someday?”
Long wrote “Made For Me” with the song’s producers Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox and Jordan XL. It’s the first single since her debut, Public Displays of Affection: The Album (2022), released on Supergiant Records/Def Jam Recordings.
