After much anticipation, Halle has released her new single, “In Your Hands,” via Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records.
On the devotional ballad, led by a warm piano accentuated by dreamy electric guitar, Halle sings about an enduring love. Metaphorical lyrics like “I’m the bandage for you when you’re bleedin’ out” underscore the crucial nature of this deeply entrenched love. It’s why she is protective of their union.
“I promise that I’ll be your only friend / ‘Cause I know that the demons come knockin’ / But we will never, ever let ’em in,” she sings.
“‘In Your Hands’ is an incredibly special song to me. It’s basically a message about fighting for a love that you know is an incredibly beautiful one-of-a-kind love, but also a reminder to that special someone that your love has changed their life and is something they won’t experience in this lifetime again,” explains Halle.
She continues, “It’s a love song but also an empowerment song to ourselves, and a reminder that we are a one of a kind special being and that we’re worth more than all the diamonds and gold in the world.”
“In Your Hands,” co-written by Halle and Feli Ferraro, arrives with a heartfelt video directed by Anastasia Delmark.
Halle first teased “In Your Hands” last March on TikTok. The one-minute clip, which has 3.8 million views, showed Halle at a recording studio playing the electric guitar to the song before a 35-second snippet of the track. Fans filled the comments section, requesting Halle release the song.
Earlier this month, Halle made her fans’ wishes come true by announcing “In Your Hands” as an official single.
“You guys have been begging me for this song, and I’m incredibly excited because this has never happened with one of my songs before, where it’s getting this sort of reaction before I even put it out,” said Halle in a Snapchat video. “I’m super excited for you guys to hear the full song, to see it and to finally have it. Thank you so, so much for being so persistent about this song. It’s because of you guys that I am able to put it out.”
“In Your Hands” marks Halle’s second solo single following 2023’s “Angel.” The latter song, co-written by Halle, Theron Feemster and Coleridge Tillman, was nominated for Best R&B Song at the 66th Grammy Awards.
Speaking about “Angel,” Halle shared, “This song for me is so very special and near and dear to my heart. With everything I’ve gone through the past 3-4 years, suddenly finding myself in this bubble of all these eyes and new opinions, it was easy for me to feel doubt in myself and who I was.”
She added, “This song for me was my climb out of those feelings, a mantra and promise to myself that the work I’m doing here on earth matters and that I matter. I wanted to be able to embrace and be proud of myself and who I am naturally through and through. I hope other brown and Black girls and everyone in general feel embraced, respected, and inspired hearing the words of this song.”
