Alicia Keys has unveiled the video for “Kaleidoscope,” the joyous tune from her Hell’s Kitchen musical, featuring singer and actress Maleah Joi Moon.
The Kajal-directed video was filmed entirely at Manhattan Plaza in New York City. “This video is so special to me, it captures the spirit of Hell’s Kitchen, the place I grew up, and the new musical we’ve worked so hard to bring to life!” shares Keys. “One that is now debuting on Broadway on 4/20! I’m so proud to showcase a place I call home, and the amazing community that helped make me who I am today.”
Keys adds, “It also showcases the special cast of Hell’s Kitchen who are incredible artists and have that same feeling I do, we live in a concrete jungle where DREAMS are made of! This City holds a lot of hope. I want people to feel inspired by that hope, the song, the music, the movement, the lifestyle and the video.”
Keys released “Kaleidoscope” on March 22 via Alicia Keys Records. As noted above, the song is featured in her Broadway musical, Hell’s Kitchen. The musical officially opens on Broadway this Saturday, April 20 at Shubert Theatre.
Maleah Joi Moon stars as Ali in Hell’s Kitchen. Per the logline, “In the mid ’90s, in an apartment high above the energy and grit of Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, 17-year-old Ali squints toward the horizon until she can just see the Hudson River. Despite the warnings of her protective mother, the symphony of the street calls to her—promising freedom, excitement, and the possibility of love. Finding herself. When a wise piano teacher helps her find her voice, Ali learns she can make the city her own.”
