“Empire State of Mind” is Keys’ first diamond-selling single and Jay-Z’s third.
The rapper achieved his first RIAA diamond-certified single in 2023 with “Ni**as in Paris,” a collaboration with Kanye West from their 2011 joint album, Watch The Throne.
Earlier this year, Jay-Z scored his second diamond single for his feature on Rihanna‘s breakout hit “Umbrella.”
Produced by Shux, “Empire State of Mind” was the second single from Jay-Z’s album, Blueprint III. It spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The New York City anthem, which has over one billion Spotify streams, won Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 53rd Grammy Awards in 2011.
Keys could soon earn her next RIAA diamond certification. Her 2007 hit “No One” was certified 9x platinum last February after selling over nine million equivalent units. The Grammy-winning song also spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart.
“No One” appears on Keys’ album As I Am.
