Rising singer Journey Montana is feeling the love in her tender ballad, “You.”
Produced by Camper (H.E.R., Coco Jones, Keyshia Cole), “You” is laden with heartwarming lyrics that capture the euphoric feeling of being in love.
“You found me, I was alone / Found me, gave me / Saved me, you gave me hope / I love you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you,” Montana sings.
Speaking on the devotional track, Montana explains, “Simply put, ‘You’ is a love song. The song embodies the fire you feel in your chest when you love every part of someone.”
She continues, “Yearning and desperation, but pure raw emotion. You saved me, so I love you, and I’ll do anything for you. I belong to you, and it doesn’t matter if you belong to me.”
“You” is the follow-up to Montana’s autobiographical song “Journey.”
She noted, “In this song, I’m speaking about my grandparents for the first time in my music. My personal struggles, my daddy issues, and other insecurities… I’m ready to lay it all on the line and share my truth.”
Montana will share more of her truth on her upcoming debut album, where did the sun go? The project is slated to release this fall on 10K Projects.
On Nov. 17, 2023, Journey Montana released her Stargirl EP, which included her Eric Bellinger-featured “Undefeated.”
In February, she released Stargirl (Live Sessions), featuring live renditions of every song on the EP.
