Craig David has returned with his new single “In Your Hands,” produced by Mike Brainchild.
On the self-penned track, David chronicles his journey from an uncertain youth to a fully realized adulthood. It serves as a reminder that, even in the most ambiguous times, clarity is always on the horizon.
“I feel like a young boy, I feel like a young boy but now the garden’s grown / I took the long road, I took the long to finally find my way home / ‘Cause I’ve been praying before I got to sleep / I hear that voice inside of me / ‘Cause you’ve been with me all along,” David croons over a foot-tapping production.
“In Your Hands” interpolates the African-American spiritual “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” adding a familiar touch to its reassuring message.
Regarding his new song, David explains, “‘In Your Hands’ is such an important song for me as I wanted to shine a light on how truly special we all are. Especially when we allow our inner child to play, that part of us that holds the true meaning and joy to life.”
“In Your Hands” arrives with a touching video directed by Lx of Greatcoat Films. “Having grown up listening to Craig David, getting to work alongside him feels like an incredible full-circle moment,” says Lx. “From paying homage to his ‘7 Days’ video through little Easter eggs to collaborating on the idea and coming up with a narrative following a younger version of him and his love for music, it’s been an honour to work with Craig and his team.”
Lx adds, “We wanted to make this video vibrant, nostalgic and youthful. A young child discovering their favourite song that they can’t get enough of. Something we can all resonate with till this day.”
Craig David tells Rated R&B there’s more music on the horizon. “I’m thrilled to share this with my fans as we embark on my upcoming album,” he teases.
“In Your Hands” is his first solo release since his 2022 album, 22.
On Feb. 2, 2025, David will launch the U.K. leg of his Commitment Tour in Leeds. He will perform throughout the month, concluding Feb. 20 at The O2 in London. Earlier this year, he embarked on his 7 Days Commitment Tour in North America.
