Leon Bridges wants to extend his stay in “Laredo” on his new single, which was produced by Ian Fitchuk.
On the earthy, romance-heavy track, Bridges yearns for another stolen moment with a bombshell in the South Texas border town.
“Play me something downtempo / Low-key and rock steady / Body hittin’ like Kimbo / Fallin’ for you like confetti,” Bridges sings with his sweet, soul-steeped voice.
Regarding his new single, Bridges says, “This track is a nightlife vibe. A down-tempo, rocksteady homage to those moments when life slows down and all that matters is being in the now. I’m throwin’ it back to where it began, embracing my roots and telling stories that are as real as the places I call home.”
Bridges adds, “‘Laredo’ is more than just a song; it’s a journey back to the roots, a return to what truly matters. After years of searching for inspiration across the globe, I found myself drawn back to the border town memories that shaped me.”
“Laredo” is the second single from Bridges’ forthcoming album, Leon, which will be released on Oct. 4 under Columbia Records.
The Grammy-winning singer introduced his new album era with “Peaceful Place,” the lead single, which was released on Aug. 8.
“Peaceful Place,” produced by Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, was accompanied by a music video directed by Joshua Moore.
Leon is the follow-up to Gold-Diggers Sound, the third album by Bridges, released in 2021.
“It’s soulful music in the truest sense – it’s imbued with my soul,” Bridges said of Leon. “I’m excited to share these stories about my home, about nostalgia, about my upbringing, about where I’m from, with all of you. I hope this music brings you back to your roots and your journey.”
Bridges also described his fourth studio album as his “most personal album yet.”
Besides his upcoming album release in October, Bridges is embarking on a series of intimate shows across North America. Joining him for the multi-date trek is Hermanos Gutiérrez. Tickets are available now.
