Leon Bridges has returned with his new song “Peaceful Place,” the first single from his fourth album, Leon.

Over soothing and mellow instrumentation, helmed by Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, Bridges sings about achieving an inner fulfillment that cannot be shaken.

Although the song’s bright production is as radiant as a sunlit summer, “Peaceful Place” also captures the feel of a transformation, like the onset of autumn.

“I’m in a peaceful place / I found something no one can take away,” Bridges sings in the chorus.

“Hope y’all feel this one and you’re able to find your version of what I’ve found. Once you do, no one can take it away from you,” Bridges wrote in an Instagram post.

“Peaceful Place” arrives with a video, which was filmed in Bridges’ sanctuary on the outskirts of Mexico City. The Joshua Moore-directed features footage of Bridges recording his album, coupled with clips of him trekking through the City.

“Gotta take a moment to send some big love and big thanks to the city and the people we met there,” Bridges shared on Instagram. “They became a part of this record and y’all can feel them in the music and see them in the video.”

Bridges’ new album, Leon, will release Oct. 4 via Columbia Records. It’s the follow-up to 2021’s Gold-Diggers Sound, which included singles such as “Sweeter” with Terrace Martin, “Why Don’t You Touch Me,” and “Motorbike.”

The image features singer Leon Bridges seated in a relaxed pose on a folding chair beside a serene lake, surrounded by grassy fields and trees under clear skies. He is wearing a casual, patterned short-sleeved shirt and light-colored pants, with one hand touching his chin thoughtfully. In the upper left corner, the text "Leon" appears in large letters. The lower right corner contains the Columbia brand logo.

“Leon has been a long time coming. I started writing pieces of it as far back as Gold-Diggers Sound,” says Bridges.

“They didn’t fit what I was trying to do with that album and I tried moving on. But I couldn’t shake them because they’re part of me. And, if I’m honest, also because I think this is some of my most excellent work yet.”

The Grammy-winning singer also notes that his new album is heavily informed by his upbringing and Texan roots.

“In many ways, Leon has been in the works since my childhood. This record is about simpler days. It’s about time spent in my beloved Fort Worth and the experiences that made me the man I am today,” Bridges explains.

He concludes, “It’s soulful music in the truest sense – it’s imbued with my soul. I’m excited to share these stories about my home, about nostalgia, about my upbringing, about where I’m from, with all of you. I hope this music brings you back to your roots and your journey.”

After releasing his Grammy-nominated album Gold-Diggers Sound in 2021, Bridges teamed up with musical trio Khruangbin for a joint project, Texas Moon.

The five-track EP included the single “Chocolate Hills” and the fan-favorite “B-Side. Texas Moon was the follow-up to their first collaborative project, Texas Sun.

Bridges supported Gold-Diggers Sound on his headlining Boundless Tour, which ran from late July to early September 2022.
