Jeremih is feeling lovelorn on his new song “Sick,” featuring genre-bending artist 4batz.
On the Retro Future-produced track, which recalls Zapp’s “Computer Love,” Jeremih croons about the desire he has to reconnect with an estranged lover.
“It’s been too long / I’m so sick of missing you, oh / Girl, you need to call me, call me,” he sings in the chorus.
4batz appears in verse two, singing, “Shamed into saying how I was before / Wanna call and say hello / Do you feel how I feel or I’m just a joke? / Can we get together? / Okay, say no more.”
“Sick’ is for the fans that have been missing me,” says Jeremih. “I’ve been missing them too and wanted to give them a special record for the winter to heat things up a bit. I’m a firm believer in timing and it’s that time for me to give the fans the music that they love from me again.”
4batz adds, “We wanted to make a true R&B record for the fans. Jeremih is one of the GOATs so it was easy.”
“Sick” is the follow-up to Jeremih’s “Wait On It” featuring Bryson Tiller and Chris Brown. The latter song, also produced by Retro Future, debuted at No. 7 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales, earning Jeremih his 17th top 10 on that list.
Regarding “Wait On It,” Jeremih said, “I feel like big songs have become a lost art in male R&B and with me, CB and Bryson, it just feels massive immediately. I know a lot of folks are going to say it’s been too long and I agree with them. I’ve definitely felt like R&B has been missing me, but I didn’t want to return with something that I felt wasn’t timeless.”
He added, “So, after getting off the road with 50 Cent last year, I finally got some time to put together something that I believe can last forever again.”
“Sick” and “Wait On It” will appear on Jeremih’s forthcoming project, which will release in early 2025 via Late Night Records/Pulse Records.
As Jeremih gears up for his next project, the Grammy-nominated singer has also been collaborating with other artists. He most recently worked with rapper Lola Brooke (“No One Else“), singer-rapper Tink (“Past Those Interlude” from Winter’s Diary 5), producer Camper (“War” with Ari Lennox) and singer-songwriter Chlöe (“Shake” from Trouble in Paradise).
