Zyah Belle isn’t mincing her words for a deceiver. The rising singer’s fiery new single “Lyin” confronts a no-good lover without hesitation.
On the track, produced by Mack Keane, ESTA., and Blake Straus, Zyah blasts an unfaithful ex who has been caught creeping.
“Say where you been at / I done hit your phone and you ain’t call that / You ain’t call back / Claiming you ain’t outside / I got your location, I saw that / I’m about to fall back,” she sings in the first verse.
Speaking on her new single, Zyah explains, “‘Lyin’ is a diss track for every person who’s ever been lied to, cheated on, or played by their ex. It’s my R&B ‘Ether,’ aimed straight at the heart of those who did us wrong. When I freestyled this, I had every single heartbreak in mind—every betrayal, every lie, every fake promise.”
She continues, “This song is about the rawness of heartbreak, but it’s also about reclaiming your power, even if you have to break a few things to do it. Sometimes, the only way to heal is to let the anger out and show them you’re stronger than the pain they caused.”
Zyah started teasing “Lyin” in May with multiple social media posts of a snippet of the track shared since then. She recently revealed that one of music’s biggest superstars, Rihanna, was in her DMs checking in to see when it would be released.
“Just here to remind you to drop this if you haven’t yet! And if you have send me the title so I can put on da repeat squad,” wrote Rihanna, who hasn’t released an album in eight years. (Yes, we’re waiting for Rih’s much anticipated ninth album, too.)

“Lyin,” which will appear on Zyah’s forthcoming EP, is the follow-up to “You Got It.” The latter song was released in February and features rapper Rexx Life Raj.
Before that, Zyah released her debut album, Yam Grier, in 2022. The album included features from Temptest, Jordan Hawkins, Jane Handcock, and more.
“The persona behind Yam Grier is all inspired by women that are forces to be reckoned with, whether that be women in my personal life — my mom, my aunties,” Zyah told Rated R&B in a 2022 interview. “It’s just the extra zhuzh that Black women have. You can’t recreate it. It’s the original. It’s the blueprint.”
She added, “I want people to know Zyah Belle after listening to this project. Yam Grier is my story. It is me injecting my story within these songs that I’ve experienced over the past few years.”
