Alternative R&B artist Roy Woods is feeling like he’s on top of the world with his new song “Rockstar Baby.”
The hard-hitting, braggadocious track finds Woods embracing the fast life. “Baby, you fine as s–t / Let’s fly to the islands quick / I be in the club with the propane / Smokin’ on killa for days / Shawty dance on my chains / She ain’t even know I sing / ‘Til I told shawty my name,” he sings.
Regarding his new track, Woods explains, “The song ‘Rockstar Baby’ is an embodiment of both sounds, worlds, and personalities of Roy. Ego and alter-ego merging together in symphony.”
He continues, “This song can very well represent the balance of where I am in life and musically embracing the fact that the music I make cannot be boxed in or categorized.”
“Rockstar Baby” follows the bedroom banger “Hold Still,” which was released in late October. Both tracks will appear on Woods’ new project, Rolling Stone, which drops Dec. 6 via OVO Sound.
Rolling Stone will follow the Canadian singer’s 2023 album, Mixed Emotions. The project included singles such as “Young Boy Problems,” “Test What I Know” and “Don’t Mind Me.” It also featured appearances from Coi Leray, Jada Kingdom, and Vory.
“This release is very special to me. I put my heart, soul, and real-life experiences into it, especially with me taking a hiatus for so long. My fans deserve this. It’s only up from here,” Woods said about Mixed Emotions.
