Grammy-winning singer Melanie Fiona has premiered the official video for her song “I Choose You.”
Directed by Logan Meis, the video is set at a bashment party where Fiona and partygoers dance to the rhythm of the lovers rock anthem.
Fiona, in her denim shorts, gold top, and matching knee-high boots, is in the center of the dancefloor, surrounded by couples entranced by each other’s embrace. Towards the end, everyone comes together to perform a choreographed number.
In an Instagram post, Fiona mentioned that it was probably the most fun she’s ever had and “the most love I’ve ever felt” while filming a music video.
She also revealed the story behind the video. “Director @loganmeis and I moved so quickly creating this concept, I literally had 48 hours to put in all the calls and favors in hopes my people could show up for this shoot,” Fiona wrote. “On a Thursday afternoon, in the thick of Los Angeles rush hour traffic… EVERY SINGLE PERSON showed up for your girl. It was also on a full moon.”

In October, Fiona returned with her comeback single “Say Yes” and the B-side “I Choose You.”
Regarding the latter track, Fiona told Rated R&B, “‘I Choose You’ is very true to who I am. It’s this meld of R&B, reggae, [and] a little bit of hip-hop, which is for my fans who really know me [and] know the catalog. They know that that’s the essence of who I am.”
As for “Say Yes,” which Fiona co-penned with SiR and Andre Harris, she shared, “‘Say Yes’ was always this song I wanted to lead with after not putting out music for so long because I think that it’s art; it’s bigger than music. I’m proud of this song because I think it’s one of one in how the landscape of music is.”
Fiona continued, “I wanted to give something that would reflect what I pride myself on, which is the musicality of not being afraid of live music, live singing, and a jam session. That’s really how that song came about. We were just in a room, and they were just free-flowing.”
Both songs will appear on Fiona’s forthcoming EP, due in 2025. It will mark her first project since her 2012 album, The MF Life.
“It’s a fun project,” she explained to Rated R&B. “I don’t think it would feel heavy to people, no matter what the context is. Everything was created with a lot of joy. I think people are going to hear, I want to say, like a playful side of me.”
