Chris Brown‘s “Residuals” is shaping up to be another hit single for the R&B star.
The lovesick ballad replaces GloRilla’s “TGIF” for the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart dated for Dec. 7.
Brown now has 20 chart-toppers, tying him with Lil Wayne for the artist with the second-most No. 1s on this list. According to Billboard, Drake leads the pack with 46 No. 1s.
Coming in behind Brown and Weezy is Usher with 17 No. 1s and Beyoncé with 13 No. 1s.
“Residuals” is Brown’s fourth No. 1 in the 2020s decade and his second in 2024. In March, his other hit, “Sensational,” featuring Davido and Lojay, topped the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart for one week.

“Residuals,” co-produced by Eric Hudson and Blaq Tuxedo, appears on Brown’s 11:11 (Deluxe) album. The expanded project was released in April, while the standard edition was released Nov. 10, 2023, via Chris Brown Entertainment/RCA Records. 11:11 debuted at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart.
In other news, Brown is nominated in three categories at the 67th Grammy Awards, which takes place Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, in Los Angeles. 11:11 (Deluxe) is nominated for Best R&B Album, while “Residuals” is up for Best R&B Performance and “Sensational” is in consideration for Best African Music Performance.
In November, Brown scored 18 new awards from the RIAA, including his first diamond certification for “No Guidance” with Drake.
