Keke Palmer isn’t holding back on her new single “My Confession.”
On the raw track, which interpolates Usher‘s “Confessions Part II,” Palmer addresses her split from her ex, Darius Jackson, who is also the father of their child. In under two minutes, she details what led to their breakup and clarifies that they had already separated when Usher serenaded her at his Las Vegas show — a moment that prompted Jackson’s public criticism of Palmer via social media.
“Summer ’23 we was in Vegas right / Broke up with me and you hopped up on a flight / Was tryna find my way back to alright / So I figured that I’d have myself a girl’s night / 48 hours later online / Made me a villain for sympathy but you lied,” Palmer sings.
Speaking on “My Confession,” Palmer explains, “‘My Confession,’ I mean…yea. I don’t like to say much, but music for me is a way to express myself and the things I need to get out, but don’t always want to say, but will sing.”
“My Confession,” which Palmer co-wrote with Tayla Parx and Kameron Glasper, is the second single from her upcoming album Just Keke. The three-act album will release June 20 via Big Bosses Entertainment/SRG-ILS Group. It will also include the scorching lead single, “125 Degrees,” which she also co-wrote with Parx and Glasper.

“Just Keke is the mark of a new era for me. An evolution of everything I had to be and become to survive and grow as a person and artist. It’s all about fragmentation and the path to integration,” says Palmer.
“I created it with my best friend of 22 years, Tayla Parx—someone who knows me inside and out. This project is a raw, emotional journey of me facing myself, my love, my vulnerability, my relationships, and my truth. My hope is that it takes you to a place of remembrance.”
Just Keke follows Palmer’s Big Boss, released in May 2023. Later that October, she reissued the project with a deluxe edition featuring four bonus tracks.
