After topping R&B radio last week, Jill Scott’s single “Pressha” rises to No. 1 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart dated March 14.
According to Billboard, “Pressha” moved from No. 2 to No. 1 in its eighth week on the chart, bumping Kehlani’s “Folded” from its two-week reign.
“Pressha” is Scott’s first chart-topper on the Adult R&B Airplay in 14 years. She previously reached the summit in 2012 with “Blessed,” from The Light of the Sun (2011), where it led for one week.

Released Jan. 9, “Pressha” debuted at No. 13 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart dated Jan. 24. In its second week, the track jumped to No. 9, scoring Scott her 17th top 10.
At R&B radio, “Pressha” is No. 1 for a second consecutive week. According to Mediabase, it received 2,268 monitored spins, with 9.3 million audience impressions.
Produced by Vincent “VT” Tolan and Adam Blackstone, “Pressha” is the second single from Scott’s sixth album, To Whom This May Concern.
Regarding the track, she told The Guardian, “‘Pressha’ is about the pressure to look, sing or act a certain way. It’s partly from my own life experience, but also from noticing that people are choosing an aesthetic over character or consistency. That’s dooming our relationships because you’ve married a shell or you’ve had a child with a shell, when the things that really matter are underneath the skin.”
To Whom This May Concern was released Feb. 13 via Blues Babe Records/Human Re Sources. The LP debuted on multiple Billboard charts, including Top R&B Albums (No. 4), Independent Albums (No. 6) and Top Album Sales (No. 7).
This summer, Scott will embark on her To Whom This May Concern World Tour, which will visit the U.S., Europe, the U.K. and South Africa.
