After much anticipation, Kehlani has delivered her self-titled fifth album via Atlantic Records. Its release coincides with the singer’s 31st birthday (April 23).

Executive produced by Khris Riddick-Tynes, the 17-track LP includes the Grammy-winning hit “Folded,” plus the subsequent singles “Out The Window” and “Back and Forth” with Missy Elliott.

The album also includes features with Brandy, Usher, Leon Thomas, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Lil Jon, Clipse, Big Sean and Cardi B. For songwriting and production, Kehlani worked with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Babyface, Antonio Dixon, Jermaine Dupri, Eric Dawkins, Tank, Keri Hilson, The Stereotypes, Pop & Oak, Camper, DIXSON and Talay Riley, among others.

In an interview with Vibe, Kehlani said, “I want people to hear this album and think this is very high quality. There was a lot of intention and a lot of skill put in this. I just want people to take away that good-quality R&B is actually genius, and it deserves to be respected at its core without having to be changed or modified.”

KEHLANI is the follow-up to 2024’s Crash, a more experimental record that included the hit “After Hours.” The latter also featured appearances from Jill Scott, Omah Lay and Young Miko. Following mixed reviews from critics — Rolling Stone said, “Without a clear sense of purpose, Crash feels a bit scattershot — Kehlani released her While We Wait 2 mixtape two months later.

The sequel to her 2019 project featured collaborations with Lucky Daye, Destin Conrad, Kwn, DIXSON, FLO and more.

Circling back to her self-titled LP, Kehlani launched her new era in June 2025 with “Folded.” It reached No. 1 at urban radio in September, earning Kehlani her first solo leader on that chart. By early November, “Folded” made its way into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. So far, it has peaked at No. 6 and is No. 9 in its 44th week on the chart.

Elsewhere on Billboard, “Folded” has led the Adult R&B Airplay, Hot R&B Songs, R&B Streaming Songs, and R&B Digital Song Sales charts.

Around the time “Folded” hit the top 10 on the Hot 100, Kehlani unleashed the second single “Out The Window.” It was produced by Riddick-Tynes and Dixon.

On April 10, Kehlani dropped the third single, “Back and Forth” featuring Elliott.
