Justine Skye and Timbaland found each other at the right time. Their warmly received pairing first yielded the code-cracked track “Intruded” in February. The two recently cooked up more heat for the summer ahead with the Rema-featured track “Twisted Fantasy.”
This new song operates on demon time and taps into an Afrobeat and R&B forcefield. Skye has had one too many drinks and gets flagged late at night by a former lover to come through to smooth things over. Instead of putting words to how she feels about the state of their romance, she prefers to put in some bedroom work to remind him once again what he could be losing.
Rema’s melodic voice whispers sweet nothings in the ear of his bae, unmasking his flaws and all to cop a feel of her love handles.
“Twisted Fantasy” doesn’t arrive with a music video, but it does come with an announcement for her next album. Space & Time, produced entirely by Timbaland, is out on June 25 via Nynetineth LLC. She called the upcoming project on Instagram a “bad bitch manual.”
Space & Time is Skye’s first project since last year’s Bare With Me (The Album), an expanded edition of her 2019 EP of a similar name.
