Love can be quite the gamble when it grows from a previous friendship. Jon Vinyl discusses how this risk can cause unsettling feelings in his new song “Stacy.”
Faced with a dilemma in his bond with a woman of the same title name, Vinyl sings smoothly across the dreamy track about whether to take their friendship to the next level or keep it platonic.
“Where do I begin? / We’re better off as friends / Hate to see you fall, but love to see you win / Pictures on my phone remind me of your lips / I love the way you felt, but still I’m on the fence,” Vinyl coos.
The Toronto native said the meaning behind the song came from him wanting to write a song about the struggle between following your heart or listening to that voice in your head.
“With a feel-good anthem-like ‘Stacy,’ I wanted to remind listeners that it’s completely normal to feel confused about love, but we should never be afraid to take risks- whether or not we know how the other person feels,” he told Rated R&B.
“Stacy” is Vinyl’s second release this year following, “Told You” from May.
