Mariah Carey to Release New Children’s Book ‘The Christmas Princess’

Mariah Carey The Christmas Princess

It may only be January but Mariah Carey is already plotting her Christmas takeover. The music icon and the Queen of the most festive time of the year has announced her second book, The Christmas Princess, scheduled to release Nov. 1.

With illustrations by Fuuji Takashi and co-written by Michaela Angela Davis, the children’s book, crediting its character likeness to a Little Mariah, is being made in partnership with Henry Holt and Company.

“The Christmas Princess is a fairytale for holiday lovers of all ages,” Carey said in a statement. “Little Mariah represents my inner child believing in her own vision, she represents all children, especially those who feel like outsiders or ‘others,’ striving to believe in themselves. It was empowering to transform my childhood turmoil into a modern classic fairytale full of wonder and boundless hope.”

The Christmas Princess is Carey’s second collaboration with Davis, who co-wrote The Meaning of Mariah Carey, a New York Times bestselling memoir, released in fall 2020.

This year started as a successful roller coaster ride for Carey, having the first number-one single of 2022 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the glorified classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

The newly-certified diamond single now has a total of eight weeks atop the big singles chart. Even more impressive is the milestone of more than one billion streams on Spotify.

In other news, Carey is quietly working on her next album. She teased a collaboration with Brandy in a recent interview. The Vocal Bible confirmed with Rated R&B that they were in each other’s presence in the studio, describing it “a dream come true.”

“When I was in the booth, doing whatever she wanted me to do, it was just beautiful to be coached by her,” Brandy shared in an exclusive interview with Rated R&B. “I’m just glad that she invited me over to just sing with her, and we’ll see what happens.”
