In 2009, Mariah Carey elegantly recounted epic love stories for her 12th outing and titled it Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel. This year, the enduring artist is ready to uncover more layers about herself in her new book, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
Written collaboratively with Michaela Angela Davis, the memoir will be published via Andy Cohen Books, in partnership with Audible, on Sept. 29.
Its release coincides with the 30th anniversary of her lauded self-titled album. It also arrives just four days ahead of the 25th anniversary of Carey’s Daydream album.
“This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs,” Carey wrote in a statement on Instagram. “Unfiltered, I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.”
She continued, “Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling, and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit.”
Devoted Lambs will have a chance to purchase an audiobook version of The Meaning of Mariah Carey through Audible. Narrated by Carey herself, this intimately desired edition will meld special musical components to heighten the playback of the icon’s candid life and career moments.
