Sunni Colón has returned with his new project titled JúJú & The Flowerbug.
The marvelous collection of retro, psychedelic music runs for nearly 30 minutes and is Colón’s first release since 2018’s Satin Psicodelic.
JúJú & The Flowerbug is a solid project that one should open their mind and heart to from start to finish. It consists of rich and plush instrumentation handed by Colón and introspective topics meant to make listeners melt at the sound of his gloriously feathery tone.
Though the material sounds familiar, at least in a production sense, Colón offers a sense of freshness to remind listeners of how far funk and soul have come since its creation.
For sure, track two, “Less Is More,” is a highlight, doing just what the title suggests. “Lady Luck” has a wobbly bassline that finds Colón placing all his chips on the table.
Some of the previously shared tracks include the soothing “Provide” and the “Flowerbug (Interlude).” He accompanied the latter with a music video.
