Most music fans want to know the artists they support are empathetic to what goes on in their everyday lives. Mychelle speaks an identifiable language on her latest project, Someone Who Knows.
There’s a sense that the six songs that comprise Someone Who Knows are approved tales from first-hand experiences. The first tune, “Pressure,” is a gentle reminder not to take on more than you can chew. In short: ‘no’ is a phrase that does not equate to weakness or incapability. Instead, it speaks to not being hard on yourself when you cannot make everything happen in the order you’d like.
The light toward the tunnel known as closure can be hard to reach when the walls are caving in, in a final attempt to keep you stranded in a non-progressing relationship. But self-assurance is the key to knowing you’ll survive this romantic grievance, and Mychelle sings lushly about it on “Lose.”
Previous to Someone Who Knows, Mychelle has issued the venomous “Forbidden Fruit” and the self-reflective, ENNY-assisted “Younger Self.” Both tracks are great attractions to this thoughtful and meditative project.
Mychelle will support Someone Who Knows with a European leg of concerts. Tickets are available on her official website.
