5 Reasons to Love Miguel

When talking about today’s R&B music, one artist is on nearly everyone’s favorites list– Miguel. The singer-songwriter has been winning over the hearts of R&B lovers since releasing his 2010 album “All I Want Is You” and his latest release “Kaleidoscope Dream.” Since he is a hot topic after his now-infamous leg drop at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, we want to share with R&B lovers why we love the “Sure Thing” singer.

He’s a true entertainer.

Miguel seems to be most comfortable on stage. When performing sultry tunes like “Quickie,” “Adorn,” and “P*ssy is Mine” ladies can be sure to see his rippling abs along with him reenacting how he gets busy in the bedroom. Parental advisory is advised.

He’s fashion-forward.

Miguel is always on top of the latest fashion trends.  From his signature motorcycle jacket to his funky ’80s tailored suits, he truly craved his own lane in the world of fashion.

He helped reinvent the sound of R&B.

For the last few years, R&B music seemed to lack passion and wasn’t well-received as hip-hop became the dominant force on urban radio formats. As Miguel’s new sound of contemporary R&B started to capture the attention of radio, other R&B artists started to gravitate to the new change of R&B and adapted to making it not only listenable but current. Salute to Miguel.

He’s driven.

The road hasn’t always been easy for Miguel. He has dealt with failed record deals, his debut album becoming a “sleeper hit,” and being snubbed at the 54th Grammy Awards. However, the road bumps haven’t stopped Miguel. The “Adorn” singer’s time is now and he’s letting his critics and his peers know he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

He’s admired by R&B veterans and newcomers.

Miguel has the new and old school of R&B backing him these days. “Slam dunk. R&B is alive!,” tweeted his “#Beautiful” collaborator Mariah Carey after his SNL performance. With a stamp of approval from one of the best-selling female artist in history, it’s safe to say he’s in good company. He still has received love from veterans and rising artists such as SWV, Maxwell, and Elle Varner, among others. It’s good to see love and support among R&B artists.
