R&B singer, songwriter and actor Trevor Jackson has unwrapped his new project, I Love You, via Born Art/UnitedMasters.
The five-track set includes the lead single, “One Foot In,” which was produced by his brother Iyn Jay. On I Love You, Jackson puts his heart on the line as he vulnerably explores the ups and downs of relationships.
“This project is about being honest with myself about what love means, what it gives and what it takes away,” explains Jackson. “It’s the start of a conversation I want to keep having with my fans as the story continues with the album.”
Among the project’s standouts is the closing track, “Collection,” written and produced by Jackson himself.
Over an acoustic backdrop, Jackson sings of the gut-wrenching decision to end a romance before it cuts deep into heartbreak. “I’m tryna save you from becoming another broken heart / That I add to my collection,” Jackson sings.
I Love You is the first installment of Jackson’s two-part album, I Love You, Goodbye.
According to press materials, I Love You, Goodbye was created “during a period of personal upheaval, including the end of a six-year relationship” and will explore “themes of heartbreak, masculinity, and emotional healing.”
In other news, Jackson is set to make his series regular debut on season 22 of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, which premieres Oct. 9.
