As Jai’Len Josey readies her debut album, Serial Romantic, the R&B newcomer drops her new single “Won’t Force You.”
Produced by Paperboy Fabe and Noah Elher, the acoustic ballad hears Josey giving a seemingly disinterested partner an ultimatum: “If you don’t wanna be here, I won’t force you, baby,” she sings.
“Won’t Force You” is Josey’s third single of 2025, following “New Girl” and the Tricky Stewart-produced “Freak.”
Regarding the latter, Josey exclusively told Rated R&B, “This is only the beginning of what lies ahead, and I owe immense gratitude to Tricky Stewart and Theron Thomas for opening the door, believing in my vision and bringing ‘Freak’ to life!”

As for “New Girl,” Josey noted, “[It] is about that cute feeling you get as a girl when you first start talking to a guy. It’s like, ‘I saw you. You saw me. What’s the next move?’Musically, the track mixes R&B and U.K. garage. A lot of my experiences come from underground New York and the music I heard when I was on Broadway. I’m bending those ballroom pockets with R&B and creating a world of my own.”
All three songs will appear on Josey’s Serial Romantic, set for release in 2026 via Def Jam Recordings. The upcoming album will follow Josey’s 2023 EP, Southern Delicacy.
