Singer-songwriter and powerhouse producer Pharrell Williams strikes his first Oscar nomination for the 86th Annual Academy Awards.
How many producers can ink the words “Oscar Nominee” on their resume? Not many. The Virginia Beach native is nominated for the Best Original Song category for his contribution of “Happy” in the Universal Studios animated film “Despicable Me 2.” The “Happy” track will also be featured on Pharrell’s forthcoming LP due out later this year.
William’s Oscar nomination will be an addition to his already prestigious accomplishes such as supervising music for the 2012 84th Annual Academy Awards with composer Hans Zimmer.
The 40-year-old multi-talented artist is also nominated for seven Grammy’s for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards including Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.”
