R&B’s Uncle Charlie Wilson is content with his growing popularity in the R&B/Hip-Hop sphere.
The former Gap Band lead singer is happy with his success and revealed that Wiz Khalifa, among other rappers, approached him at the 2014 Grammy Awards, asking to collaborate in the future.
“A lot of people ask me to sing all the time. I’m having fun because what if nobody was asking me to sing at all?” Wilson told Billboard. “I don’t know anybody from back in the day when I came around getting all this attention.”
Wilson divulged that out of the many records he recorded with Kanye West, fan-favorite “Bound 2” was selected because it stuck out.
The “Outstanding” singer also revealed to Billboard that he is anxious to get back in the studio to work on his next album. The new album will consist of mostly up-tempo records and will allow Wilson to “be himself for real,” something he hasn’t done since his Gap Band days. He informed Billboard of his plans to collaborate with Pharrell, Justin Timberlake and the legendary Stevie Wonder on the forthcoming project.
