Mariah Carey’s music career has been a little shaky lately.
Her fans, known as the Lambs, are very vocal on social media and have no issue with defending their fave. Last week, we learned Carey’s 14th studio album “Me. I Am Mariah Carey…The Elusive Chanteuse” made history — and not in a good way. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, only selling 58,427 copies in its first week of sales. The album’s opening number marks Carey’s lowest-selling debut in her career for a non-holiday studio album, according to Billboard.
Unsurprisingly, many of Carey’s fans were not happy mainly because the album lacked proper promotion and poor single choices. Music mogul Jermaine Dupri, who now manages Carey, caught a lot of heat from fans. Early this morning (June 10), Dupri broke his silence after becoming tired of everyone placing the blame on him.
Using his website Global 14 as a platform, the super-producer shared an open letter to Carey’s fans giving a little insight on the situation.
Okay enough is enough!! I can’t continue to let you think, what you see or don’t see is a result of me not knowing what I’m doing, this is bigger than me and in the music business things don’t go as fast as you would always like them to, if you know my history, you know I want to go down as one of the greatest produces of all times, I want to be mentioned with the greats like berry Gordy and Clive Davis when people talk about putting out artist, so for me,allowing you to believe I don’t care about the promotion of the Mariah record and I don’t see you screaming at me, that this song and that song needs to be a single,goes against everything that I’m about, believe me! everything that you question Will be answered ASAP!!!!
