Mary J. Blige has set an offfical release date for her “London Sessions” album.
The “F For You” singer’s forthcoming project will drop on December 2 via Capitol Records in the United States. The album is expected to release on November 24 in the UK.
Blige’s 13th studio effort, inspired by the London scene, will feature contributions from several British hit-makers such as Sam Smith, Disclosure, Eg White, Emeli Sandé, Naughty Boy and Sam Romans, among others.
Blige says that “the songs are fun, therapeutic and soulful.” She embraces her new-found artistic approach for the new album. “This is a beautiful change for me and I’m proud of what we have done here.”
While Blige released a new song called “Right Now” last week, it isn’t the official lead single. The “doo-wop” flavored song “Therapy,” co-penned by Smith and White, will serve as the first single for the new LP.
On Sept. 23, the new single “Therapy” will be available instantly after fans pre-order the album on iTunes. Two days later, Blige will take the stage at the iTunes Festival in London, which will be available to view via live or on-demand using their iOS devices, on their computer via iTunes, or in HD on an Apple TV.
