After the death of Whitney Houston, we’ve decided to dedicate this week’s Throwback Thursday special to show our love and appreciation to her.Whitney Houston was undoubtedly one of the best vocalists of our generation. Also known as “The Voice,” Houston inspired many of today’s popular singers like Mariah Carey, Brandy, Beyonce, Monica, Fantasia, and Jennifer Hudson.

Let’s take a look at some of Houston’s greatest songs from her debut album, “Whitney Houston.”

In 1984, Whitney Houston made her debut on Teddy Pendergrass’ song “Hold Me,” written by Michael Masser and Linda Creed. The duet appeared on Pendergrass’ album “Love Language” and was eventually released as Houston’s debut single from her self-titled album.

Another exceptional song from Houston’s debut album “Saving All My Love For You,” written by Michael Masser, was her fourth single. Houston’s version was actually a cover of Marylin McCoo and Billy Davis Jr.’s song. Nonetheless, “Saving All My Love For You” became an instant hit. It was Houston’s first number one record. The song remained on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for 22 weeks.

“Greatest Love Of All,” written by Michael Masser and Linda Creed, is also another classic song found on Houston’s debut album. The song also was a hit, eventually charting number one on Billboard’s Hot 100.

These songs are just a snippet of what Houston contributed to the music industry. She made many memorable songs that are still being played this day.

Check out some other classic hits by Whitney Houston.

“I Will Always Love You”

“I Have Nothing”

“You Give Good Love”
