She’s back! After previewing her new single “You” on Thursday, Keyshia Cole shares the full track. With assistance from rappers Remy Ma and French Montana, Cole sings about being fed up with her unfaithful lover.
“You just played me for the last time / I’m done f*cking with you / Keep coming with the same lines / Everything but the truth / You picked the wrong one, yea yea,” Cole sings on the chorus.
Cole explained the inspiration behind the song with Genius. “The inspiration of the song was women’s empowerment,” she said. “We really wanted to have something that was more uptempo. I come from a hip-hop background and I wanted to incorporate that feeling with the new album.”
“You” is the lead single off Coles’ upcoming seventh studio album, which will release this year via Epic Records.
