You may know her from her television roles, but Serayah is ready to step into solo stardom. The 22-year-old has released the video for her debut original single “Driving Me.”
The video finds Serayah channeling 90s influences Aaliyah and Destiny’s Child in her fashions, and even popular 90s sitcom Moesha in her jeep-driving scene. The video also features Jazze Pha, who produced and is featured on the track. On the song, the singer/actress laments about her confusing, twisted, and sometimes volatile relationship that is absolutely driving her insane.
“Thought you would keep it a G / Thought you would keep it a thou / Whenever I tell the truth / You wanna break shit and wild out / I tried to get into you/You tried to get into my pants / What’s a young tender to do? / You ain’t even doing my dance,” she sings.
Serayah is best known for her role as “Tiana Brown” on Lee Daniels’ hit show Empire. Although she has recorded many songs for the show, “Driving Me” is her first original record. Empire currently airs on Wednesdays at 8/7c on FOX.
