Childish Gambino Still Plans to Retire From Music: ‘I Like Endings’

Donald Glover, better known as Childish Gambino, is a man of his word.

After nabbing a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Redbone”) on Sunday night, the singer/actor announced that he still plans to retire from music. He reiterated his plans to stop making music during a press conference at the Grammys.

“I stand by that,” Glover told the press. “I’m really appreciative of this. I’m making another project right now, but I like endings, I think they’re important to progress.”

He continued to explain his decision. “I think if a lot of things had death clauses in them, we wouldn’t have a lot of problems in the world, to be honest. I think ending are good because they force things to get better.”

Glover recently inked a partnership with RCA Records, where he plans to release his fourth and final album. The project, which is still in the works, will follow his Grammy-nominated album Awaken, My Love!

The 34-year-old may be preparing for his exit from music but he is just getting started in the acting world. The Emmy award-winning actor will co-star in Lion King as the lead role of Simba. The second season of his comedy series Atlanta is scheduled to premiere on March 1 on FX.
