As the temperature drops, Ol’ Saint John Legend decides to gift us with two new festive songs from his first-ever holiday album, A Legendary Christmas.
First up, the soulful crooner delivers an astounding cover version of the holiday favorite “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas” featuring Esperanza Spalding. The latter carol was first introduced by Judy Garland in 1944.
On “Bring Me Love,” which is an original recording, Legend can’t get into the Christmas spirit without his special someone next to him.
“I don’t need my stocking filled with toys / And I don’t need no gifts to bring me joy / Baby, I haven’t hung my mistletoe / ‘Cause without you, baby, I can’t see no point,” he sings on the jolly track.
Executive produced Raphael Saadiq, A Legendary Christmas will be made available for purchase and streaming on October 26. In addition to Spalding, Stevie Wonder’s famous harmonica will be heard on the opening number “What Christmas Means to Me.”
On November 15, Legend will take his holiday songs out on the road for a 25-city U.S. tour. His first stop will be in Clearwater, Fla at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
Press play on these two songs as your drive to purchase new Christmas decorations.
