With his new album Jimmy Lee out now, Raphael Saadiq releases the music video for his comeback single “Something Keeps Calling.”
The concept of the nocturnal visual is an addict’s viewing field. Instead of showing this drug user shooting up in an ambitious area, award-winning director Elliott Sellers takes viewers on an early morning stroll through their everyday struggles (no food, no shelter, or money). Saadiq’s role is an interesting one, which is scaled back to nothing more than a guardian angel of some sort.
“Something Keeps Calling” is one of the standout tracks mentioned in our in-depth album review of Jimmy Lee. It is also the lead single off the project.
