If you’re an aspiring singer, HBO is giving you a chance to shine. The company has announced its Amateur Night Contest, in support of the upcoming documentary, The Apollo.
Entering the contest is pretty simple. Just publicly tweet a video — that is no longer than 60 seconds — of you doing your act (e.g. singing, dancing, comedy, rapping, spoke word, etc.). The tweets should include the mention @HBOdocs and the hashtags #TheApolloDoc and #AmateurNightContest.
All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, October 25.

According to HBO, The Apollo is directed by Oscar and Emmy winner Roger Ross Williams and chronicles the legacy of New York City’s landmark Apollo Theater. It will cover the rich history of the storied performance space over its 85 years.
Viewers will get to see archival footage of performances that were held at the historic venue. The documentary will also include interviews from A-list acts such as Angela Bassett, Common, Jamie Foxx, Doug E. Fresh, Savion Glover, Patti LaBelle, Paul McCartney, Smokey Robinson, and Pharrell Williams.
The Apollo will premiere on Wednesday, November 6 at 9 p.m. ET.
