A no-filler album or EP is a mood. Ayanis has supplied music lovers with an EP of endless bops and titles it YANI. It was released via Island Prolific/Atlantic Records.
YANI is a nostalgia trip that sprinkles hints of popularized R&B hits like the fan-favorite “Ecstasy,” which borrows from Pretty Ricky, while “One Night” featuring Wiz Khalifa tributes Nicole Wray.
Songs like “Gumbo” featuring Vedo and “Good Music” pays homage to her New Orleans connection and its trademark bound sound. Nestled between the boss-chick anthems are introspective tracks such as “Blues,” which speaks to her commitment troubles and the heartless advantage she has over men.
The 11-track project includes additional guest appearances from Queen Naija, Mulatto, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, and Jack Harlow, who appears on the remix to “Lil Boi (Big Talk).” She shared a music video for the latter track. Watch it below.
