Victoria Monét is in the holiday spirit. The mommy-to-be has released her rendition of the classic carol “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” which exclusively appears on Apple Music’s Carols Covered playlist.
Monét adds her own spin to the song towards the end, as she shares how she feels about this challenging year. “I’m so done with 2020 / I think we’ve all be through plenty / Can we just have a Merry Christmas / And a Happy New Year?” she sings.
Speaking on why she covered the song, Monét explained to Nadeska on Apple Music’s R&B Now, “I think that I just wanted to really…wish so badly that everyone has a really good, easy transition into next year. Finally, some solace, finally some happiness and still able to make some memories. So I genuinely just wanted to say that to everyone. And the song says it so many times. I was like, oh, that’s perfect. I can wish everyone a Merry Christmas via song, and quite literally.”
This summer, Monét released her critically-acclaimed project, Jaguar.
